A Gentle Winter Waltz for Early Pianists
Most students (and parents) LOVE to have impressive music playing in their household.
The obvious barrier to that can be lack of skill, technicality and/or confidence in note reading.
Penguin Waltz was written especially for early Level 1 students who are ready to experience a flowing 3/4 feel while staying comfortably within a manageable technical range.
With Penguin Waltz, students can become more familiar with to the flow of a waltz while they practice smooth hand coordination.
The imagery of a penguin gently gliding across the ice helps students connect music to movement—making lessons more engaging and memorable!
How I recommend using Penguin Waltz:
As a January–February teaching piece for the Winter
Paired with rhythm movement (swaying or light marching)
As a low-pressure recital or studio performance piece. Feel free to record, with parental permission so you can post on your social media and website. This piece is impressive enough that if students are learning this within the first year or 2, parents will be impressed enough to sign up their child or themselves in piano lessons.
As a confidence builder between more technical repertoire
